"When some evangelicals leave the faith due to criticisms that only apply to some evangelical churches and never sit under Black, Latino, or Asian pastors were they are the minority, it implies that they can’t imagine a Christianity where someone like them isn’t in charge." -Esau McCaulley Ph.D on Twitter (tweet deleted)
Strange trend in the ACNA of nearly-woke, but minus sexuality stuff. He seems to think that Joshua Harris and Marty Samson have given up because their racism was systemic to their imagination. True it may be a failure of imagination; they probably didn’t consider Orthodoxy, which because of its catholicity is multi-ethnic, even if parishes might be ethnocentric. Nevertheless, this implies that the couldn’t imagine a solution because these fallen stars have a racist yet-to-be-woke imagination. This, like many ‘white’ Evangelical responses to them, draws them no closer back to Christ, but reinforces the false construct of ‘they were never of us.’
So, this woke presentation is also poisoned by Calvinism; that they were never really Christian of the kind that counts.
